Our Mission
A fellowship of Christian lawyers and other volunteers who provide a free and unique combination of legal and spiritual help to the poor, and instill the love of Christ in the legal community.
"I know that the Lord secures justice for the poor and upholds the cause of the needy."
Psalms 140:12
About New Mexico Christian Legal Aid
Who Are We?
New Mexico Christian Legal Aid is an independent, multi-denominational ministry and 501(c)(3) charitable organization. We are Christian lawyers, law students, legal assistants, paralegals and other volunteers who provide pro bono legal and spiritual assistance to the homeless and needy at Noon Day Ministries, Albuquerque Rescue Mission, and Joy Junction. See the Volunteers page for site information.
In addition to providing one-on-one pro bono legal assistance, New Mexico Christian Legal Aid has expanded its services to provide Preventative Law and Community Legal Education seminars serving over 1500 persons each year. NMCLA volunteers encourage and support one another through prayer, training and mentorship, and fellowship events.
How Do We Serve?
Persons requesting legal assistance must be present at the service location and complete an eligibility form. See also the Volunteers section for site information.
Site Coordinators assist the needy in determining eligibility and setting up appointments. Volunteer Christian attorneys then meet with these persons at the time of their visit and offer confidential legal assistance.
"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly, defend the rights of the poor and needy."
Proverbs 31:8-9
